Are you hearing a squealing sound when you press the brakes? It’s time to get your brakes inspected. At Flash Automotive in Albuquerque, New Mexico, we are a NAPA Auto Care Gold Center and specialize in brake repair services. When it comes to brakes, there are several parts that can wear out over time and need to be replaced.

The most common parts that need to be replaced during an automotive repair brake job include: brake pads, rotors, calipers, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes. Brake pads are the most commonly replaced part of a brake job. They are made of metal and rubber components that help reduce friction between the caliper and rotor when stopping your vehicle. Over time they will wear down due to heat and pressure from braking and eventually need to be replaced.

Rotors are another important component of your braking system. They are metal discs that spin with the wheel and provide a surface for the brake pads to press against when stopping your car. If they become warped or cracked due to heat or age they will need to be resurfaced or replaced as well.

Calipers also play an important role in your braking system by pushing the brake pads against the rotors when you press on the brakes. If they become worn out or damaged due to age or corrosion they will need to be replaced as well.

Wheel cylinders help move the brake shoes outward when you press on the brakes by using hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder. If these become corroded or worn out due to age they will need to be replaced as well.

Finally, brake shoes help keep your vehicle from skidding by pressing against the inside of your wheels when you press on the brakes. If these become worn out due to age or excessive use they will need to be replaced as well. At Flash Automotive in Albuquerque, New Mexico we specialize in all types of automotive repair including brake jobs! Our team of ASE certified technicians is here for all of your auto repair needs so don’t hesitate to give us a call today! We look forward to helping keep you safe on the road!
